It's Saturday night in the Luggar Inn, harbour side at Porthruan. Have just taken the ferry over from Fowey (pronounced Foy) a bustling port with a European feel. We had both just agreed that we would get a cup of tea, forgo ing the pub and established camp site and walk out along the path for a wild camp. But then we spotted this pub....... I've had a couple of Cornish Tribute Ales and as the ale goes in, my 'creative juices' - as curt likes to call them - are starting to flow out.

And this pub has free wifi.
I've just been on Facebook chatting with Ivan. So weird to be communicating with him via Facebook. I miss him so much and I am so very proud of him for being so independent. We have left him in charge of our rental in the valley, our dog ruby and ferret fritz - quite a responsibility for a 16 year old. And it seems as though he is doing a good job, he was just about to take Ruby out for her daily walk and he says they are "much closer now" and then he is off to a soccer game. I've had my doubts but I do think this a good thing leaving him. I trust him and he has already grown up so much.
Charlestown harbour:

We got a little lost leaving Charlestown this morning and the initial part of the walk was a wee bit ugly and uncharacteristically industrial as we had to walk on a busy road around the old china clay works at Parr docks. Then out onto Gribbin Head where it was stunningly beautiful, looking out to the open sea and to the calm waters lapping into the rocky coves below. It was an easy walk (guide book says it is anyway) on grassy cliffs and not in the least bit remote, as we were joined with lots of other walkers out for a daytime stroll. It was never-the-less beautiful and the weather perfectly sunny but cool.

The Luggar Inn is starting to fill up. Curt says the barmaid is on her forth glass of rose wine, the ferry captain has just arrived for a pint despite the fact he has to drive the ferry 'till 11 tonight and the folks on the table next door are playing a rowdy game of cards. It's time for us decide what we are doing tonight. I think we will still head out along the trail and find somewhere to camp. Onwards and Easterly........

What darling ponies - perhaps you could get two of them (I mean, really, what is one more?) and have them pull a little cart for your next adventure.
